5 Adventurous Activities to Try This Weekend
Don’t waste your precious weekend slumming at home. Have something to boast about when you return to the office on Monday morning, not to mention something that will get plenty of likes on Facebook. Try out some of the adventurous activities suggested below; there’s heaps to do, whether it’s hiking through a nearby mountain range, racing through the sand-dunes, or hitting the water and making a notable splash.
1. Churn Up Some Waves
Nothing screams adventure like a fully throttled engine and the spray of salt water splashing you in the face. So leave the couch behind this weekend, find your favourite jet-ski (check out the range available at specialists like JSW Powersports, and hit your local lake, river or beach. You’ll get an adrenaline rush and a fantastic new perspective of the landscape. If you get too hot in the sun, you can always go for a quick dip afterwards to cool off.
2. Hit the Beach
Take a trip to the sandy shores, but not for your typical day at the beach. Instead, jump on a sand buggy and hit the dunes for an action-packed day with your friends. Find a high point to head to in the dunes and make that your lunch spot. You’ll get a great view and you will have had loads of fun getting there.
3. Climb a Mountain
If you don’t have a mountain nearby, a hill will do. Strap on a backpack, lace up your walking shoes, and head into the hills for a day of hiking. Do some research before you head out so you know where you’re going, how long it will take, and if it will suit your fitness level. Don’t forget to bring plenty of water. A GPS is never a bad idea either.
4. Pull Out a Compass
If hiking up hills sounds good except for the hills part, you could always try out its sister sport and do some orienteering. Grab your friends and set yourselves points on a map to meet at. Start at different locations and set up prizes or rewards for whoever makes it there first.
5. Reel In Some fish
If water is your favourite thing, but you aren’t too keen on fast moving objects or exorbitant amounts of exercise, you may want to try some deep-sea fishing. Hire a small charter that can take you out for a few hours, then spend the afternoon kicking back with your friends and some drinks, before heading home with some dinner that you caught yourself. Better yet, splurge on your trip and make it an overnight stay. The more fish, the more stories you’ll have.
With your next few weekends planned out, there are just a few other things to remember. Bring a hat and plenty of sunscreen, don’t forget a map or GPS so you don’t get lost, and make sure you bring a group of friends. The only thing more fun than doing one of these activities is doing it with a group of friends. Happy adventures!
