Backyard Makeover Ideas on a Budget
Your backyard may seem like one of the most difficult areas of your house to make over, especially if your financial circumstances won’t allow for anything major to be done or purchased.
But it can be far easier to refresh your backyard on a budget than you might think. It all depends on what you want and how you use the space. In fact, there are many things you can do without spending a single cent.
Here are some ideas to get you inspired.
Furniture
What quicker way could there be to give your backyard a makeover than taking out the old and replacing it with the new? New furniture always reinvents a space, giving everything in the vicinity a new look and feel. Of course, you don’t have to replace anything; you could simply add more (provided you have enough room). A nice, relaxing outdoor lounge or even a hanging chair to enjoy the outdoor space in could be just the thing you need to revitalise your backyard. Great outdoor furniture can be purchased from many stores, including Super Amart (click here to view their range), and there are many options to suit any backyard.
Define Space
Your inexpensive outdoor makeover could simply be a matter of redefining space. Think of the outdoors in the same way you do the indoors; separate it by rooms and purposes (just without the walls). Have a space to cook, another to dine, and yet another to relax or play in. If these spaces are defined clearly, your entire backyard space will evolve into a more homely and organised area.
Cover up Concrete
Many backyards have nothing but plain concrete flooring under their patios or even just out in the open. One of the easiest ways to improve a backyard like this is to cover up the concrete. Doing so immediately changes the décor of the space from a simple, bland area to one that has had thought and care put into it. There’s a lot your can do with the concrete. Most often, it is tiled over. Tiling allows you to add just about any style or colour to the floor, giving you a lot to work with. A much cheaper method – and one that can turn out quite nicely – is to simply seal the concrete. Sealing is usually done on work floors or warehouses, but when it is done well, it also looks great around the home.
Mulch
A fresh layer of mulch is sometimes all a backyard really needs. The new colour can instantly improve the appearance of a garden. Mulch comes with many benefits, not just a nice, fresh look. It helps prevent the growth of weeds and supplies plants with much needed nutrients as it degrades. Simply cover any flowerbeds, bare soil, and basically anywhere else that isn’t grass or flooring, and you will add a finished, lush and healthy look to the backyard. And the best thing about mulch is it’s cheap.
Making over the backyard can be costly if you don’t think things through first. Work out what your garden needs, and whether or not you need to pay for it. How have you made over your backyard?
