Australian Dump Truck Driving Jobs at the Mines
Over the last couple of years, interest in dump truck driving at mines has sky rocketed. With stories of huge pay packets, no experience needed and easy work; one can quickly see why interest has exploded. Whilst there are some individuals making great money, the work isn’t that easy and they have definitely paid their dues.
The reality of dump truck driving at the mines is that it is becoming more and more competitive and those with truck driving experience have an edge on others. The average salary range for truck drivers is around $70-$100k depending on the mine and experience. There are obviously some instances where drivers can make more.
Depending on your background and seriousness of becoming a truck driver at the mines, there are numerous companies that provide training and trainee-ships. The average price for these training courses is around $2k but can go as high as $5k. In addition, if there is a specific mine that you would like to work at, it’s always good to contact them directly to find out their hiring criteria for a driving position.
Qualifications that the mines look for in their drivers generally include (but not limited to) the following:
HR Licence (Heavy Rigid Vehicle License)
MARCSTA Accreditation (Mining and Resource Contractors Safety Training Association)
Pre-Employment Medical
Background Check
Having a First Aid Cert is also beneficial
