Walking Holidays Can Save Families Some Serious Cash

If you are looking to spend less on a holiday this year, then a walking holiday could be the answer. All you need to take to stay away from boredom are a good pair of walking shoes. It is also the kind of holiday which suits all ages, so is great for families with children.

Why A Walking Holiday?
When it comes to holidays, many people think that a fortnight spent in the bar or on the beach is the way to go. That kind of break does not do a great deal of good to your bank balance, however, with the bills for all kinds of daytime and night time entertainment soon mounting up. If you have a family, it can also be expensive to pay for things to keep the kids out of your hair while you relax.

Finding things to do with the children can also be time consuming and may require significant planning as well as expense. This can all contribute to make your holiday far more stressful than it needs to be. Walking holidays can help you to not only save money, but also save on a great deal of hassle and worry

National And International Destinations
Living in Australia means that you are not short of potential destinations when it comes to hiking holidays either. From Tasmania in the south east to Kimberly in the north west, adventure in Australia is never far away. The costs of staying in your home country are also much less than when you have to pay for an expensive flight to take you abroad.

Not that there are not some fabulous destinations for adventurous travel outside of Australia. New Zealand is not that far away and walking in the Land of the Long White Cloud is a real pleasure. If you fancy heading somewhat further afield, then South Africa has great locations such as the Drakensburg Mountains to explore. If you fancy paying for a flight to the Old Dart, then hiking holidays are a great way of exploring the United Kingdom and Ireland too, especially if you are on a tight budget.

Walking means that you really see the sights in your destination in a much more intimate and informative way. Watching from the windows of a bus or car is really just another form of watching television. When you are in an hotel bar, you could be anywhere in the world really, but when you are hiking you can only be where you are.

So if you are looking for something slightly different for your holiday this year and you want to work to a tight budget, consider taking a hiking holiday. It is not just your bank balance which is likely to return home in better health as a result.
